School of Dentistry Faculty as Students/Residents Policy
A School of Dentistry faculty member who wishes to be considered for part-time admission to one of the school’s academic or certificate programs for credentialing or faculty development must seek initial approval from the dean and also approval from his/her department chair. The faculty member must apply formally and be considered by the pertinent admissions committee. Any positive admissions decision is contingent on the dean’s final approval of any relevant amendments to the faculty member’s terms and conditions of the original appointment. Relevant changes may include percentage effort in the areas of teaching, research and service/engagement, expected outcomes, effect on promotion and tenure, prorating of salary, tuition and any penalties (e.g., if the individual fails to complete the program or payback term). There may be a formal, agreed upon payback in years of service to the School of Dentistry for the faculty member’s part-time status in the academic or certificate program.
