Pettiette Appointed Secretary to Endodontic Foundation, Dental Education Association

Dr. Mary Pettiette, clinical associate professor in the Department of Endondontics, was recently nominated as secretary for both the American Association of Endodontists Foundation (AAE Foundation) and the endodontic section of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). Both of these appointments take effect in the spring of this year.

“Both of these organizations are advocates for dental education. The AAE Foundation provides grants for dental educators and research, and ADEA acts as the primary voice for dental education. I am honored to have been elected by my peers to serve in these offices. I look forward to being a part of the effort to keep endodontics and dental education strong,” said Pettiette.

The AAE Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Association of Endodontists, which is dedicated to excellence and quality in the art and science of endodontics and to the highest standard of patient care. The AAE Foundation supports research and education in the specialty and provides over $1.5 million annually in grants to endodontic researchers, academics, departments and residents. It is the only organization that provides funding to every accredited endodontic program in the U.S. and Canada. Pettiette has served on the AAE Foundation’s Board of Trustees since 2009.

ADEA strives to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community to address contemporary issues influencing education, research and the delivery of oral health care for the health of the public. ADEA’s activities encompass a wide range of research, advocacy, faculty development, meetings and communications. The endodontic section of ADEA represents endodontic educators and currently has more than 140 members. The section provides guidance in predoctoral and postdoctoral endodontic education research and service. It promotes a strong liaison with its specialty organization.
