Syed Selected as a Future Faculty Fellow

Ali SyedAli Syed, second-year Oral and Maxillofacial radiology program graduate student, was recently selected as a fellow for 2013 UNC Future Faculty Fellowship program (FFFP). The program is administered through the UNC Center for Faculty Excellence.

During his time in the program, Syed will be creating seven case-based seminar modules for the DENT 308 radiology interpretation course to be taught this fall. He will also give two lectures and conduct two of the course seminars, as well as generate related test questions for the students.

“The Future Faculty Fellowship Program will provide Syed with valuable information and experience to greatly enhance his academic career,” said Dr. Donald Tyndall, director of Radiology in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, who recommended Syed’s selection. “His energy, enthusiasm and commitment will make him a valuable member of any academic program and an excellent Future Faculty Fellow”.

The FFFP is an intensive, five-day seminar based program designed to improve the educational experience of UNC students in courses taught by graduate students; prepare graduate students for their first experience as independent instructors; and help graduate students understand the roles and responsibilities of faculty members in higher education. To recognize the value of the commitment to professional development that participation represents, each fellow who completes the course will receive a certificate, a $450 honorarium, and a set of books on college teaching.
