2009 Vendor Day to Be Sept. 9

Planning is now under way for the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry Vendor Day, to be held 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the University’s William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education.

The Spurgeon Dental Society, the School’s student government organization, is coordinating the event and is now accepting registration from companies and organizations. The deadline for registration is Aug. 28, and the fee is $600 before Aug. 1 and $800 after that date. Registration covers two representatives and a table.

“Vendor Day is a student-friendly occasion for future dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants to learn about the products, opportunities and services that will be available to them as they become dental professionals,” said Maggie Wright, rising third-year dental student and Spurgeon vice president.

Close to 200 students attended last year’s event, and 26 vendors participated, said Dr. Matt Morano, director of academic services at the School of Dentistry.

“Vendor Day provides an opportunity for companies and organizations from all over the U.S. to discuss their products with our students,” said Morano. “Students gain valuable knowledge, in this time before they enter their careers, that will lead them to ask even more informed questions when they become dental professionals. We’re grateful to all organizations who participate in this annual event.”

Two registration forms for organizations – both of which must be filled out – are available here and here.
