Endodontic Resident Appointed to Endodontist Association Committees

Dr. Johnah C. Galicia, a third-year endodontic resident, was appointed to national committees by the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and also its charitable arm, the American Association of Endodontists Foundation (AAEF).

The AAE appointed Galicia as a member of the national Research and Scientific Affairs Committee (RASC). The committee provides advice and expertise for those activities related to research, scientific advances and affairs, and collaborates with other committees and groups in work relating to evidence-based endodontics. The committee meets twice a year at the AAE Headquarters in Chicago to review scientific research grant proposals and abstracts from all over the world for presentation at the AAE Annual Session. Twelve endodontists with strong scientific background from the U.S. and Canada compose the committee.

Galicia was also appointed as a member of the special marketing committee of the AAEF, which promotes the mission of the foundation to donors and dentists. The AAEF seeks to improve oral health by securing contributions, shepherding resources and sharing grant funds that support research, generate new knowledge and enhance endodontic education. Galicia is currently an AAEF Educator Fellow.

“The AAE and the AAE Foundation generously support endodontists, endodontic residents and even general dentists in a lot of ways,” said Galicia. “I am excited to help these organizations in providing more services to my specialty and beyond.”

Galicia holds a Ph.D. in oral biology and has co-authored several publications in international, peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has also presented his research work in national and international forums.
