Broome Joins Department of Diagnostic Sciences

Dr. Angela Broome recently began her appointment in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences as a clinical associate professor in the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

“Much of my success I owe to the strong mentorship that I received from various staff and faculty members at the UNC School of Dentistry. I hope that in some small way I can impart the same care, energy and dedication as they have. It is an honor to be here,” said Broome.

In her new role, Broome will serve in the graduate, pre-doctoral and dental hygiene educational programs and participate in the Dental Faculty Practice Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Group.

“Dr. Broome is an extremely well-qualified academician who has always been dedicated to teaching excellence,” said Dr. Valerie Murrah, chair of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences. “We are, indeed, fortunate to have her return to UNC to add her expertise to our talented and well-recognized Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology!”

Broome received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology, her DDS and her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing a one-year AEGD program, she served as an associate in private practice, as service dentist with an active role in patient admissions, and as clinical assistant professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at UNC School of Dentistry. She has attained her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, has completed the ADEA Leadership Institute Program and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Prior to returning to UNC School of Dentistry, Broome served as the division director of Diagnostic Sciences and Community Dentistry and also as the unit chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.
