UNC DentistrE News
June 9, 2014
Dear Friend of the UNC School of Dentistry:
It's officially summer here in Chapel Hill. On main campus, the University is holding orientation for the incoming students. At our school, it's a bit quieter than most months, although that won't be a surprise to any of you. The spring always brings a calendar filled with events, so June is often a short, welcome break from the busy few months prior.
If you were able to attend the events this spring, or if you want to see a photo recap of all the festivities, I hope you'll enjoy the Facebook albums we've posted on the UNC School of Dentistry and UNCDAA Facebook pages. Be sure to like our pages, and to tag yourself and your colleagues in the pictures!
- 2014 Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards Dinner
- 2014 Best of Dentistry Weekend (includes UNCDAA D.D.S. Reunion highlights!)
- 2014 UNCDAA Class Reunion Recap
- 2014 UNCDAA Reunion Class Shots
Recent grads - just because you weren't alumni yet doesn't mean we forgot about you! Here are two albums you won't want to miss:
I hope all those photos have you looking forward to our fall and spring events - because it's time to get some dates on your calendars! Please plan to join us for:
- Friday, October 10, 2014: UNC School of Dentistry Alumni Reception at the ADA Meeting in San Antonio
- Saturday, November 15, 2014: UNCDAA Tailgate Party and Football vs. Pittsburgh
- Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, 2015: Fourth Annual Best of Dentistry Weekend
Our ENNEAD chapter is looking for some pro bono help from our alumni. ENNEAD is involved in Camp Challenge, a series of eight week-long summer camp experiences for high-achieving, low-resource students in N.C. Approximately 30 sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students attend each week to learn basic literacy and finance skills, as well as enjoy normal camp activities like hiking and swimming. ENNEAD is providing dental screenings as well as offering oral hygiene instruction to each student, and we need pro bono dentists to refer these students to in their hometown. If you're interested in providing those services to one or two students in need, please contact Erica Afandor (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Siena Leone (email@example.com).
Be sure to watch your mail for the draft 2013-14 Honor Roll of Giving. This list reflects gifts received during the 2013-14 fiscal year (July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014). The final version of the Honor Roll of Giving is run annually in the Fall/Winter issue of the North Carolina Dental Review and is added to the school's website. If you don't see your name on the list and want to ensure you're listed as a donor for the current fiscal year, click here to give online or contact our office (firstname.lastname@example.org, 919.537.3257) to discuss your giving options. Please note your gift must be received by Monday, June 30 in order to count towards the 2013-14 fiscal year.
As always, thank you for your interest and support!
