Dear Friend of the UNC School of Dentistry:
Happy 2013! It's hard to believe that another new year is upon us! Here in Chapel Hill, we're already gearing up for a busy and wonderful year.
We have a lot of events planned over the next few months and hope that you'll be able to join us for them. Be sure to add these dates to your calendar!
In March, Paul Gardner and Sarah Andrews will be traveling to Atlanta for the annual Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting March 21-23. We'll host the UNC School of Dentistry Alumni Reception on Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m. in the Maple Room at the Omni. If you're in town, please join us for drinks and appetizers.
We'll be holding our 19th School of Dentistry Golf Tournament on Friday, April 12 at Finley Golf Course. As always, we're looking forward to a fun competition on the greens! Proceeds raised from the tournament directly benefit our students through scholarship support. Look for that registration information in late February.
We're also really busy planning our Second Annual Best of Dentistry Weekend. That event-filled weekend will occur on April 26-27 in Chapel Hill. Be sure to plan to join us on Friday for our Best of Dentistry Gala to participate in both a silent and live auction to generate funds for the UNC Craniofacial Center, student scholarships and the Fourth-Year Student Clinic. On Saturday evening, five-year-cycle D.D.S. classes will have the opportunity to attend their UNCDAA-sponsored class reunions at the Rizzo Center. Watch your mailboxes next month for a formal invitation and a sneak peek at the continuing education courses offered during the weekend.
A few administrative changes occurred during the last few weeks in the Office of Advancement. Mary Mahan began her well-deserved retirement at the end of December, after more than 20 years of service to UNC (including six here at the School of Dentistry). Rory Moore is also leaving our offices to begin a new position within the University at our well-respected School of Law. We're all grateful for their work over the last few years!
Don't worry, though: Paul, Sarah and I won't be running the office alone! We're pleased to announce that Christy Dixon has joined us as an administrative assistant for all the Office of Advancement needs. If you'd like to contact her, you can dial our main line (919.537.3257), call her directly at 919.537.3261 or email her at email@example.com.
If you want to start off 2013 by giving back to the School of Dentistry, it's easy to do. You can click here to give online or contact our office (919.537.3257 or firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss your giving options.
We're looking forward to an exciting 2013! Thank you for your continued support and your interest in the UNC School of Dentistry!
