The UNC School of Dentistry is widely considered one of the nation’s best dental schools and is particularly known for its top-tier Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) education program.

The DDS program is a four-year program that provides admitted students with the skills necessary to become a general dentist at graduation. The program works within the school’s mission of promoting the health of the people of North Carolina, the nation and the world through excellence in teaching, patient care, research and service.

Requirements at a Glance

  • ADEA/AADSAS application and UNC online supplemental application
  • Dental Admission Test (DAT)
  • 96 semester credit hours from an accredited university or college

Important Application Dates

  • Application opens: Early June
  • November 1: ADEA/AADSAS application must be received
  • November 15: UNC online supplemental application must be received
