Dental Hygiene Master's Program (MSDH)


Rebecca Wilder, Dental Hygiene Master's Program DirectorThe Division of Allied Dental Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry offers a twenty-two month graduate program leading to a Master of Science degree in Dental Hygiene Education. The Graduate School of the University confers the degree. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in teaching, administration, research and management, specifically in dental hygiene.

The primary goal of the Master of Science degree program is to prepare exceptional educators for allied dental education programs. Objectives of the graduate program are to provide the student with advanced knowledge in dental hygiene education to assume positions in teaching, administration, research, and management.

The curriculum emphasizes advanced knowledge and skill development in several areas including education, leadership, administration, and research related to allied dental education and practice. The curriculum is interdisciplinary in that courses are taken in the schools of Dentistry, Public Health, and Education.
