Kevin Lim, DMD, was born in Manila, Philippines. He spent time in the Philippines and Vancouver, Canada before moving to the United States for college. He graduated from the University of California Irvine with a bachelor’s in biology in 2005. After some time away from academics, Dr. Lim attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and graduated with a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree in 2012. He then spent two years at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn. completing a general practice residency, which included a chief year. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Lim enjoys spending time with his wife, Kimberly, his two twin girls, Kayley and Adeline, and his newborn baby boy.

Hugh Murphy, DDS, was raised in New York, N.Y., and earned his bachelor’s in biology from Colby College in 2007. In 2014, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California. Upon earning his degree, Dr. Murphy was awarded the American College of Prosthodontists Undergraduate Achievement Award, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists Pre-Doctoral Achievement Award and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Senior Student Award in recognition of his outstanding academic and clinical performance. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Murphy is a professional artist and the creator/author of “T-Rex Trying …”, which was published by Plume in 2013. His second book, “T-Rex Trying and Trying …“, debuted in stores in the fall of 2014. He enjoys fly-fishing, painting, lacrosse and spending time with his wife. 

Anthony Prudenti, DDS, was born and raised in the East End of Long Island, N.Y. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany, State University of New York. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where he served as president of his class, was involved with local and remote outreach missions, and received awards for outstanding leadership, clinical achievements, and excellence in prosthodontics. It was during this time at Stony Brook that he became interested in the esthetic restoration of damaged and missing teeth, as well as implant dentistry. Dr. Prudenti moved to North Carolina in 2014 to pursue excellence in dental reconstruction and rehabilitation at UNC. His interests are focused on advanced clinical dentistry with the comprehensive understanding on how to best manage patients with challenging dental needs.

Dr. Prudenti is never far from his passion for outdoor adventure. A respected fishing boat captain, he found time to star in a reality-based television show, Fighting Tuna, which airs on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. When he is not searching the ocean, pursuing other outdoor adventures or focusing on advanced clinical dentistry, Dr. Prudenti can be found enjoying time with family and friends.

Dr. Prudenti is a current member of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and the American Dental Association (ADA).

Kimberly Schlam, DMD, was born and raised in Binghamton, N.Y. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with high distinction in chemistry from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. During her time there she published research in anticancer therapeutics and studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. Upon graduating, Kimberly moved home to New York where she gained experience in implant and sedation dentistry as a dental assistant at an extraordinary general dental practice, Lalor Creekside Dental. There, Kimberly initiated and organized a Free Dental Day which is now in its sixth year of servicing those in need. She then moved to Boston, Mass., where she attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She received her DMD alongside her now-husband, Dr. Mark Schlam, who is attending an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Fort Bragg, N.C. During dental school, Kimberly and Mark pursued several volunteer and outreach programs including Tufts’ first mission trip to San Felipe, Dominican Republic. They also collaborated through research on implants in conjunction with the periodontal department. Kimberly received several awards upon graduation including the American Academy of Prosthodontics Achievement Award, AAOMS Dental Implant Student Award, and the Northeastern Society of Periodontists Award. Her passions for dentistry are vast and include esthetics, implementation of digital dentistry and learning to help her patients look and feel their best.

Second Year Residents

Lauren Katz, DDS, is from Charlotte, N.C. and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both undergraduate and dental school, where she received her bachelor’s in chemistry and Doctor of Dental Surgery. She developed a passion for prosthodontics during her training at UNC and was awarded the American College of Prosthodontics Combined Award and Dr. H.V. Murray, Jr. Scholarship her fourth year. Dr. Katz was also heavily involved with research while in dental school, focusing on examining the genetic basis of cleft palate. She continues to develop her research skills and interests by pursuing a Ph.D. in addition to her advanced training in prosthodontics. In her free time, Dr. Katz enjoys exercising, rock climbing, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Sarah Kay Youny Lee, DDS, completed her undergraduate and dental training as a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her dental education, she completed an academic fellowship through the ADEAG’s Foundation/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellowship, received recognition for her leadership and academic merit as the recipient of the Academy of Dentistry International USA Section Student Servant Leadership Award, and Whip Mix “Best of the Best” Award in Prosthodontics. She received further training through the General Practice Residency at the University of Michigan from 2013-14, treating patients with various medical complications, including head and neck cancer, and presenting in the Michigan Dental Association’s 2014 Annual Session Table Clinic, and the 10th Ramfjord Symposium. After serving in public health dentistry for a year, Dr. Lee returned to UNC to pursue specialty training in prosthodontics. She is enthusiastic in her study of the science and art of managing complicated reconstruction and rehabilitation. Dr. Lee is currently a member of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and American Dental Association (ADA). Aside from dentistry, Dr. Lee enjoys traveling and discovering new cuisines with friends and family. 

Dr. Hector Saenz de Viteri Tejeda, DDS, grew up in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato: a beautiful town, declared a World Heritage Site, that attracts foreign art students, retirees, artists, writers and tourists. He pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Universidad de la Salle, Bajio, in the City of Leon, during which time he spent extensive time traveling through France, and studying the French language. After receiving his dental degree in 2010, Dr. Saenz de Viteri Tejeda worked in private practice alongside his mother for almost four years. Prosthodontics implants and esthetics has been his passion throughout his academic career, and in 2015 he moved to North Carolina to further his pursuit of academic and professional excellence. Dr. Saenz de Viteri Tejeda believes that the future of dentistry points to the world of digital technology. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and is an avid tennis player.
