Two Residents Place in My Kid’s Dentist Research Posters Competition

During the My Kid’s Dentist Reseach Posters Competition, Jenna Alvey won first place for her poster titled, First-Time Mothers’ Intended versus Actualized Child Oral Health-Related Behaviors. Erica Brecher also placed in this competition, earning third for her poster titled, A Policy Review of After-Hours Emergency Dental Care Responsibilities.

 

 

 


Lasater Byrd Named an AAPD Certificate of Merit Winner

LasaterGentryMeredith Gentry Lasater was recently awarded the UNC AAPD Merit Award. Lasater is a DDS class of 2015 graduate, and a first year resident in the pediatric program.

 

 

 


Burgette Wins AAPD Resident Recognition Award

jacqueline burgetteJacqueline Burgette was recently awarded the AAPD Resident Recognition Award, recognizing her innovation and service during her time as a pediatric dental resident.  Winners are chosen based on activities performed that contribute to one of more of the following fields: patient care, education, research, and community service. Burgette was honored for her leadership role in transitioning the UNC Department of Pediatric Dentistry to the hospital patient record system, EPIC. She was also prized on her pediatric resident involvement in AAPD Lobby Days in Washington D.C., as well as her research mentorship with Dr. Jessica Lee.


Schwartz Named Harris Fellow

Third-year resident, Scott Schwartz was named one of the recipients of the 2015-2016 Samuel D. Harris Research and Policy Fellowship. Schwartz is currently a pediatric dentistry resident, working toward a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management. His fellowship project plans to review data from the Affordable Care Act in regards to its poly decision and workforce issues in pediatric dentistry.
