Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Appoints Dr. Brent Golden as Clinical Assistant Professor

Professor Brent Golden, D.D.S., M.D., recently received his appointment at UNC as a full-time clinical assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Golden graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and later earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree with honors from the UNC School of Dentistry in 2003.

After completing his dental training, Dr. Golden held an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas before returning to the UNC School of Medicine for his medical and surgical training. Upon graduating, he completed an internship in general surgery at UNC Hospitals and finished his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2010. Following surgical residency, he further focused his training with a fellowship in pediatric craniomaxillofacial surgery at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Fla.

Dr. Golden holds a joint appointment in the UNC Department of Pediatrics as an adjunct faculty. In his current position he will focus his clinical care on the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired conditions in children, and will serve as a core member of the UNC Cleft and Craniofacial Team and Dentofacial Deformities Team. In addition, he will instruct both surgical residents and predoctoral dental students in the didactic and clinical settings.
