Detection of BK Virus in Salivary Gland Diseases
Description/Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this research study is to learn about the role of BK viral infection in salivary gland disease (SGD). Participation includes 3 visits to the UNC Hospitals Dental Clinic over a period of about 3 months. Participants will receive $100 for the successful completion of all visits.

YOu may be eligible if you meet the following criteria:
One of the following 4 diagnoses.
HIV+ with Salivary Gland Disease.
HIV- and Kidney Transplant Recipient.
HIV- with Sjogren's Syndrome.
Ability to read and understand English.
You are not eligible if you:
Have a history of adverse reaction to local anesthetic.
Have been diagnosed with hemophilia.
Have a history of thrombocytopenia (platelet counts <50).
Are taking anticoagulant (blood thinning) medications.
Are neutropenic (ANC < or = 1000).
