Departmental Purchases


New Computers and Laptops


OCIS currently supports new computer orders through the CCI contract. Note: We recommend purchasing a PC vs Mac. Some School of Dentistry applications will not run directly from a Mac (e.g. EPR, Dolphin, Ortho2 or MiPACS).

For special orders that cannot be fulfilled through CCI, please use the special instructions below.

HOW TO ORDER

  • STEP 1: Decide which MODEL you want to order by looking at the CCI Web Page. (Note: For Lenovo models, we recommend the W series laptop or the tower model for faculty and staff working with or developing multimedia material or software requiring intensive processing, e.g. SAS. For regular office applications and using EPR, lower series laptop or desktop models should suffice. The X models offer a good alternative for travel due to their small profile and light weight.)

  • STEP 2: Submitting your order. You must be an authorized ConnectCarolina e-Pro user to place the order. From the CCI webpage, click on the model you wish to purchase. Click on Buy Now.

Instructions for Ordering Specialized Computers

If you have very specialized needs for computer equipment that cannot be met by purchasing one of the four CCI models, please use the following procedures:

FOR LENOVO ACCESSORIES

ConnectCarolina e-Pro users can order directly from the CCI Web Page. If the item you need is not listed, please follow Non-CCI instructions below.

Accessories from Other Vendors

Check the CDW-G  or Staples website. You can order from CDW-G or Staples through ConnectCarolina e-Pro using your UNC account number. If you are unable to find the item you need, check to see if the manufacturer is listed as a vendor in ConnectCarolina e-Pro.

Printers, Scanners and Accessories


HOW TO ORDER

STEP 1: Select a printer or scanner

Since the availability of printer/scanner models constantly changes, it is best to contact OCIS for help with selecting a model appropriate for you needs. Check CDW-G or Staples websites to see if they sell the item you are looking for. If you are unable to find the item you need, check to see if the manufacturer is listed as a vendor in ConnectCarolina e-Pro.

STEP 2: Place your order.

Log into ConnectCarolina and place order through e-Pro.

Printer Accessories

You are responsible for placing orders for cables, toner cartridges, drums and paper for the printer. These items can be purchased from your usual office supplies vendor.

Software


HOW TO ORDER

STEP 1: Check Available Software List from UNC Software Acquisition office.

STEP 2: Place your order.

You must be an authorized ConnectCarolina e-Pro user to place the order. Go to software list on Available Software List. Click on Get Software and follow instructions for placing order.

STEP 3: Pick up your order

You will be notified via email when the order is ready to be picked up at the House Undergraduate Library, Room 033, and if you need to have CD-Rs for CD exchange.
