We leave NC after exams end in mid-July and return in mid-August before classes begin again.

We will fly into Kathmandu, Nepal, and continue to Lukla by plane. With our Nepalese partner organization, Health Society of Nepal, we plan to hold a four-day dental camp to teach daily oral healthcare practices and distribute supplies such as toothbrushes and toothpaste at schools and community gatherings.  During the camp we will also provide much needed dental care including extractions, fillings, cleanings, fluoride, and sealants to villagers in the Solukhumbu region of rural Nepal.  From there we will continue on foot for 13 days to Mount Everest Base Camp providing oral hygiene education and supplies to villages along the route.   After returning from Everest Base Camp, we also plan to hold another four-day dental clinic in Chattiwan in the plains region of Nepal to provide similar services to farmers and villagers there. Once back in Kathmandu we plan to have one more clinic based out of a monastery in the city.  Finally, we hope to gain an understanding of Nepalese run healthcare by visiting public and private clinics in the Kathmandu Valley before returning home.
