||KSHV Oral Pathogenesis
We have begun investigating the differential viral and cellular gene expression in these virus-associated lesions. We are also studying the pathogenesis of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV), the most recently discovered human gamma herpes virus and DNA tumor virus. Wild-type oral KSHV isolates from both healthy and immunosuppressed individuals are being characterized in terms of genome structure, strain variation and tropism for oral epithelial and lymphoid tissues.
