White Wins ADA Foundation Predoctoral Scholarship
W. Charles White, D.D.S. Candidate 2016, is a recipient of the ADA Foundation (ADAF) Underrepresented Minority Dental Student Scholarship. He is one of 25 students who won this national scholarship this academic year.
"It is a tremendous honor to have Charles selected for an ADAF scholarship!" said Dr. Janet Guthmiller, associate dean for academic affairs. "We are so proud of Charles and so pleased that he is representing UNC School of Dentistry as well in receiving this well-deserved recognition."
White, who was nominated by UNC School of Dentistry faculty members for the honor, will be awarded $2,500 for use towards the cost of his dental education.
"I cannot express what an honor it is to be representing the school in this manner," said White. "I thank the ADAF wholeheartedly for this award as I continue to uphold the mission of the UNC School of Dentistry with my educational endeavors."
According to their website, the ADAF scholarships are designed to facilitate the education of an academically gifted dental student by providing financial assistance that will offset some of the costs of their professional education. To be eligible, dental students must be in the second year of their dental education, meet GPA and class rank requirements, and show an interest in being involved in organized dentistry and professional activities.
