Turvey Presents Lecture in England
Dr. Timothy Turvey, chairman of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, recently delivered a distinguished lecture as a part of the Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Turvey presented the Norman Rowe Lecture, which honors the memory of a surgeon who dedicated his career to the facially injured of Great Britain following World War II. Turvey’s lecture was titled “Orthognathic and Reconstructive Surgery: the Heritage, Legacy and Future of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.”
The annual meeting, themed “Tomorrow’s World,” was held May 26 through 28 in Manchester. The British association’s purpose is to promote the advancement of education, research and the development of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the British Isles; and to encourage and support postgraduate education, study and research within the surgical specialty.
