The Koury Oral Health Sciences Building will, when completed in early 2012, encompass 216,000 square feet of state-of-the-art educational, research and office and administrative space-and allow the School to increase its DDS class size to a capacity of 100 students.
The facility's educational space will add newfound opportunities and dimensions to the ways in which students learn. Features include: a 220-seat grand lecture hall, 120-seat lecture halls, 32-seat seminar rooms, a 105-seat simulation laboratory, a 30-seat distance learning seminar room and much more. Currently the School of Dentistry is not able to accommodate in one setting more than one DDS class, which limits the ability to have multi-class presentations on key issues in oral health. Such presentations, allowing an extension of students' educational experience at their School, will be possible when the Koury Oral Health Sciences Building is created.
Thanks to the Koury Oral Health Sciences Building's significant research laboratory and support space, the latest patient-directed discoveries will find even more efficient translation to the School's clinics and the Dental Faculty Practice. This cutting-edge space and it proximity to educational settings will increase the School's already robust student research initiatives.
