Class of 2011
Class of 2011 residents were Thomas Suranyi, Oliver Pin Harry, Astrid Alves, Sandra Al-Tarawneh
Dr. Sandra joined us from Amman, Jordan. She graduated with a B.D.S degree in 2004 from the University of Jordan. She then completed six month as an internship, and worked in a private dental practice till 2006, where she joined the department of Prosthodontics at the faculty of dentistry, University of Jordan as a research and teaching assistant and worked there until she joined us.
Oliver Pin Harry
Born and raised in Mauritius, Dr. Pin Harry moved to France in 1992 where he received his DDS in 1997 from the Université de Montpellier. Following graduation and a national examination, he worked as an intern at the C.H.U de Montpellier. In 1998, he moved to Ontario, Canada and established his private practice with an emphasis on esthetic, restorative and implant dentistry before joining the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at UNC in 2008. During his professional career, he studied under the mentorship of many international leaders in restorative and implant dentistry. He maintains active membership in several prestigious professional societies and has received the following awards: Fellow of The Academy of General Dentistry, Fellow of The International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Fellow of The Academy of Dentistry International.
Astrid Alves Daporta
Dr. Alves came to us from Caracas, Venezuela. She received her DDS degree from Universidad Santa María where she graduated with honors in 2006. In 2004, she received the 1st place in the National Academic Match of the “IV National Meeting of Dental Students 2004”. She volunteered to work in favor of people with disabilities, congenital syndromes and Venezuelan Native Indians. Upon graduation, she worked in private practice until she joined us.
Dr. Suranyi is a native of Lancaster, Ontario, Canada. He completed his B.A. from the University of Rochester, NY, with a double major in Chemistry (graduate cum laude) and History (graduate cum laude) and a minor in Biology. In 2007 and 2008 Thomas earned his D.D.S. and Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine, respectively.
