The UNC Department of Prosthodontics welcomes you to our homepage. The primary role of the Department of Prosthodontics is the training of pre-doctoral and graduate students to restore and replace damaged and missing teeth. Statistics indicate that there are nearly 44 million completely edentulous adults in the US and that nearly 70% of the adult population over the age of 18 is missing one or more teeth. The Department of Prosthodontics faculty is comprised of persons with diverse training, teaching and research interests. All faculty are committed to teaching, patient care, scholarship, research and service and serving the North Carolina dental community through AHEC and continuing education programs. The Department of Prosthodontic faculty provide more than 32% of the teaching effort for the DDS curriculum.
