The UNC Endodontic Department aims to educate health care providers in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periradicular periodontitis and orafacial pain in a patient centered environment. This involves the study of the physiology and pathogenesis of pulpal and periapical disease. Treatment protocols will stress an understanding of the biological and research basis of successful evidence-based diagnosis, prevention, treatment and referral for patients in the State of North Carolina and beyond. The health care provider will independently provide and critically evaluate any needed treatment. The health care provider will recognize the value of newer techniques and innovations through life-long learning.
