DEPARTMENT CHAIR: Dr. Eric Rivera
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Endodontics is committed to advancing oral health through therapies focused on preserving the natural dentition. One of the nation’s very first recognized academic programs in endodontics, the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Endodontics incorporates the latest patient-centered research discoveries and technologies in teaching DDS students and graduate residents the art and science of endodontics.
The UNC Department of Endodontics aims to educate health-care providers in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periradicular periodontitis and orafacial pain in a patient-centered environment. Specifically within root canal therapy, research discoveries and new technologies continue to inform the practice of endodontics. The School of Dentistry takes a dynamic approach to showing DDS students and residents what the future holds for this specialty – and for patient care within endodontics. The Department of Endodontics is privileged to serve North Carolina and contribute to the School of Dentistry’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, patient care and outreach.
