Course Description
This is an end-of-year Last Dance chance to get CE credits with the Department of Periodontology at UNC. This course uniquely combines a series of lecture topics with practical hands-on experience to improve your knowledge and skills in clinical crown lengthening and other periodontal surgical techniques. The lectures and laboratory exercises have been chosen to give you practical information that you can take to the office on Monday morning! It will help you to identify when you can manage your patients crown lengthening needs and when it is best to refer.

Objectives
1. Review basic surgical principles, including anatomy, incision design, flap management, suturing, and post-operative management.
2. Review the concept of biologic width and explore its relationship with restorative dentistry.
3. Review indications/contraindications and hard/soft tissue considerations for crown lengthening.
4. Review the requirements and goals for anterior esthetic crown lengthening.
5. Provide hands-on experience with crown lengthening and suturing using pig jaws and suture models.
6. Review appropriate CDT coding.
