The Provisional Dental Restoration Fabrication Workshop is an intensive 6-hour workshop designed to teach the principles and techniques of provisional restoration fabrication for single crowns and three unit anterior fixed partial dentures. This primarily hands-on course provides quality one-on-one instruction. At the conclusion of the course, participants will take home several composite temporary restorations, as well as custom burs and polishing instruments designed exclusively for trimming and polishing provisional restorations.
Activity Objectives: The information presented at this educational activity should improve your ability to:
* Recognize the proper contours, occlusion, and marginal integrity of provisional restoration and their impact on the overall success of fixed prosthodontics therapy
* Identify the available materials and techniques for full coverage provisional restoration fabrication
* Manufacture full-coverage provisional restorations for single prepared teeth
* Fabricate multi-unit full coverage provisional restorations for prepared abutment teeth
* Demonstrate the fundamental biological and material knowledge as well as the clinical skills to safely and efficiently produce provisional restorations in a busy restorative dentistry practice
Ibrahim Duqum, DDS, MS is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at UNC School of Dentistry. He completed his BDS degree in dentistry from the School of Dentistry at the University of Jordan in 1997. After graduation he worked as a general dentist in Jordan for 7 years, 5 of them as a military dentist in the Royal Medical Services (RMS). He Joined the UNC graduate Prosthodontics program in 2005 and received his certificate and M.S. degree in Prosthodontics in June, 2008.
This continuing education program is presented by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and the Continuing Dental Education program. The UNC Continuing Dental Education program is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. UNC CDEs term of recognition is May 2012 through June 2015. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to ADA CERP at www.ada.org/cerp.
Registration and Fees:
The registration fee includes course materials, CE credit and all meals listed in the agenda. All registrations must be received by Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Cancellations and Refunds:
Since considerable advance planning is necessary for this continuing education program, a registration refund, less a $50 fee, will be issued for cancellations received by Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will fully refund registration fees but is not responsible for any related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, rental car or travel agencies.
