Dr. Mark Kutcher is an associate professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry.
He received his D.D.S. at Temple University School of Dentistry in 1970, his certificate in oral-maxillofacial radiology from Vanderbilt Medical School in 1975, and his master's in oral medicine and pathology at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1977. He came to UNC from the University of Maryland and was chair of the department from 1988-94.
At UNC, Dr. Kutcher has served on the Cancer Prevention Task Force, as well as the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Task Force. He teaches courses in oral medicine, physical evaluation, microbiology and pathology, and is an adjunct attending for the departments of dermatology and ENT.
Dr. Kutcher's research interests include viruses, oral ulcerations, and oral fungal infections. He is currently involved in research evaluating the dentist's role in detection of facial cancers. His work has been published in numerous journals and books.
