UNC DentistrE News
December 06, 2013
Dear Friend of the UNC School of Dentistry,
Just drive through your neighborhood and you’ll know without a doubt that the holiday season has arrived! Outside the school, lights are going up on houses and holiday greetings are being mailed. Inside the school, our students are finishing up their final exams in anticipation of the break from classes they’ll receive until 2014.
As always, we have some exciting ADA Annual Session news to share with you! At this year’s meeting, school alumnus Dr. Chuck Norman was installed as the ADA president. He’ll hold that position until the 2014 ADA Annual Session. Two of our faculty members were honored for excellence: Dr. Tim Wright, who received the 2013 Burton C. Borgelt/SCADA Faculty Advisor Award, and Dr. Bill Vann, who won the ADA Golden Apple Award for Inspiring Careers in Dental Education. Additionally, Dr. Rocio Quinonez and four of our alumni - Dr. Scott Cashion, Dr. Roslyn Crisp, Dr. Evan Miller and Dr. Michael “Mickey” Webb - were inducted into the Carolinas Section of the American College of Dentists. Congratulations to all!
In the Office of Advancement, we have more exciting news: Sarah Huppert has been promoted! Effective November 21, Sarah became our office’s regional director of development. In this role, she’ll be responsible for major gifts fundraising in South Carolina and eastern North Carolina. We’ll be hiring a new assistant director of development and executive director for the UNCDAA soon, but in the interim Sarah will continue her work in that capacity as well.
As calendar year-end approaches and you consider your tax-deductible contributions for the year, we encourage you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Dental Foundation of North Carolina to support the School of Dentistry. Click here to give online, or contact our office (email@example.com, 919.537.3257) to discuss your giving options. We know that you are asked to do a lot in your hometowns, and we thank you for all you do for the communities where you practice dentistry each day.
We also thank each of you for your support and interest in our school. We truly believe UNC is a special place, one that provides top-tier dental education and patient care. Your support is one of the reasons our school continues to be one of the nation’s best. We look forward to a successful, wonderful 2014 with each of you! From our family to yours, we wish you a wonderful holiday season!
