Alumni & Friends

UNC DentistrE News

September 5, 2012

Dear Friend of the UNC School of Dentistry,

With the last long weekend of summer behind us, everyone is moving full steam ahead here at the School of Dentistry. While our students are busy in classes and clinics, they're also somehow finding plenty of time to host their own events, including last weekend's Amalgamania carnival, which raises funds for student organizations! They also have Vendor Day tomorrow afternoon (5 - 7:30 p.m.), and our Student Research Group kicks off their Distinguished Speaker Series on Friday at 1 p.m. with a lecture by Dr. Myron Cohen, who is best known for his work on HIV.

Don't worry, though: we're planning plenty of events for our alumni, too!

It's not too late to get your tickets for the UNCDAA Football Tailgate Party and Unveiling of the Dean John Brauer Sculpture on Saturday, September 29. Game time hasn't been announced yet, but we'll be sure to have the barbeque ready two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff! If you have questions, feel free to call Sarah Andrews, executive director of the UNCDAA, at 919.537.3259 and she'll be sure to help you.

If you're making the trip to San Francisco for the ADA Meeting next month, you'll want to make time to come by the UNC Alumni Reception on Friday, October 19. The reception, held from 6 - 7:30 p.m., will be in Yerba 2 and 3 at the Marriott Marquis San Francisco. It's going to be a great time to visit with some fellow Tar Heels, so don't miss it!

While you've got your calendars out, go ahead and save the date for our Second Annual Best of Dentistry Weekend on April 26-27, 2013. Like last year, the weekend will include continuing education opportunities, the Second Annual Best of Dentistry Gala, and UNCDAA-sponsored five-year-cycle D.D.S. class reunions. We've already started planning, and it's going to be another fantastic weekend in Chapel Hill!

As always, we want to express our gratitude for all you do to support our school. To make your annual gift, set-up a recurring gift, or make a one-time donation to the Dental Foundation of North Carolina, click here to give online, or contact our office (, 919.537.3257) to discuss your giving options.

Thank you for your continued investment in our school! We hope to see you soon!

Best regards,

Tiffany N. Brannan
