Dear Friend of the UNC School of Dentistry:
It's been a busy few months here at the Office of Advancement! In the month of April, we found ourselves occupied with a slew of events, meetings and celebrations. And, in the midst of it all, we moved back to campus. But, as busy as it's been, we've all been sure to step back and enjoy the moments. We've had a lot to celebrate at UNC this year and are glad that we were able to share so many of those celebratory events with you.
We do have one more celebratory event, though, later this afternoon. Today is our annual Spring Commencement Ceremony for our D.A., D.H., D.D.S. and M.S. graduates. Our 161 graduates have the privilege of receiving their keynote address from Chancellor Emeritus James Moeser, our University's ninth chancellor. This event, as it always is, will certainly be an emotional finale to the time and effort our graduates have devoted to becoming dental professionals.
Next week, Paul, Sarah and I go to Myrtle Beach for the North Carolina Dental Society Annual Session May 16-19. We're looking forward to seeing each of you there, so be sure to stop by our booth to say hello and get a fun UNC School of Dentistry giveaway! Also, don't forget to come to our annual UNC Dental Alumni Association Annual Meeting and Breakfast at the Beach on Friday morning and the UNC School of Dentistry/ECU School of Dental Medicine/NCDS co-sponsored Mentor Reception on Friday night! Both events are going to be a great time to catch up with colleagues and get to know some of our outstanding students.
Speaking of great events, THANK YOU to each of you who joined us for our Best of Dentistry Weekend festivities the last weekend of April! Whether you joined us for the whole weekend, a quick peek at the new building or just for one event, we're so glad you were able to be a part of such an exciting weekend. We had a record-setting 375 dinner attendees for the Best of Dentistry Gala on Friday night, where we raised more than $35,000 for the UNC Craniofacial Center, scholarships and the fourth-year dental clinic. We also set some records during the Koury Oral Health Sciences Building dedication; according to UNC Events, our crowd of about 150 people is one of the largest, if not the largest, crowds they've ever had at a building dedication! Thank you for your enthusiasm and for demonstrating, yet again, that our alumni are truly second to none.

As always, we thank you for your continued support and your interest in the UNC School of Dentistry!
