The Office of Advancement is putting final touches on the upcoming issue of the NC Dental Review, scheduled to be published in May. As custom, we're planning to include an alumni notes section - along with faculty notes and departmental notes. If you have personal or professional news you'd like to share in the Spring issue, please e-mail email@example.com by March 25. We'd love to hear from you!
The School's abuzz this season, and our events staff is staying very busy! Be sure to keep a close eye on the Dental Alumni Association's Facebook page and the School's events page as we update our Spring calendar.
For those planning to attend the Hinman Meeting in Atlanta this year, we invite you to join us on March 25 for the Dean's reception for Alumni and Friends of the UNC SOD honoring members of the UNC DDS Class of 2011. The UNC DDS Class of 2014 will be inducted into the profession of dental medicine at the White Coat Ceremony on March 25th in Chapel Hill. A post-Ceremony reception at UNC's Biomolecular Research Building will follow.
The Spurgeon Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Spurgeon Society, recognizes both students and faculty for their efforts and successes. This year's banquet will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. The Dental Foundation of North Carolina's annual Scholarships, Awards, and Fellowships Banquet is scheduled for the Carolina Inn the next day, Thursday, April 7 at 6:30. All scholarship, fellowship, and award donors and recipients are invited to attend this fantastic event.
We're excited to announce the return of The Dental Foundation of North Carolina Golf Tournament on Friday, April 15, at UNC's Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill. All proceeds from the tournament will directly benefit SOD students. Registration spaces are filling up, so please call or e-mail today to become a sponsor.
On April 16, 2011, gather with the Classes of 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2006 for a day of Class Reunions activities: a 2:00 pm presentation at the Dental Sciences Building followed by a group reception and individual dinners at the Rizzo Conference Center in Meadowmont. Invitations are in the mail to all DDS and Dental Hygiene alums celebrating a 5-year cycle graduation date.

Stay tuned for happenings surrounding the NCDS Annual Session in May, the appointment of our new dean, Dr. Jane Weintraub, and continued progress on the new Dental Sciences Building.
