Biosketch

Timothy Turvey is a world-renowned cranio-maxillofacial surgeon. He has been practicing at Carolina since 1975.

Turvey has been the recipient of many honors including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award which is the highest honor given by the governors of North Carolina since 1963. This award is given to persons who have made significant contributions to the state and their communities through their exemplary service and exceptional accomplishment.

With more than 40 years of providing surgeries to patients affected with cleft and craniofacial conditions, Turvey is a giant in the field and has trained numerous surgeons who have gone on to become leaders within the specialty of craniomaxillofacial surgery.

He is a fellow and founding member of the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery and is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Turvey’s passion for serving children with facial differences extends to education and research as he has lectured internationally in 36 countries and counting, published more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and co-edited two textbooks.

Research Interests

Turvey’s current research interests include: long-term stability and adaptation to the correction of facial deformities. His work has been published in over seventy books, journal articles, and book chapters. He is the co-author of Facial Clefts and Craniosynostosis.
